This is a professional development event hosted by Infant Mental Health Association of Maryland and DC (IMHA-MD/DC). Social media has become part of the modern “village” for new parents, offering connection, information, and support during an often isolating transition. At the same time, constant exposure to parenting advice, comparison, misinformation, and idealized portrayals of motherhood can contribute to anxiety, self-doubt, and unrealistic expectations, especially for first-time mothers. This session explores how social media can influence a mother’s confidence, mental health, and developing relationship with her child. The session will also encourage clinicians to consider social media as an important part of a family’s environment when assessing and supporting parent-child relationships.

Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance (MMHLA) is holding quarterly meetings to support the mental health and wellbeing of our nation’s military-connected mothers, both those on active duty as well as beneficiaries and dependents.
The first meeting will be held on October 28, 2026 at 12pm ET. The purpose of this first quarterly meeting is to share updates on the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline’s efforts to support military mothers and families. Attendees will help identify opportunities for expanding outreach to military mothers who may be harder to reach, including those stationed overseas or receiving care outside military-health settings, and will share recommendations, resources, and strategies to strengthen ongoing collaboration and inform future quarterly meetings. Register here.
